Current Initiatives

-
Diversity in Inclusion: We pledge to uphold unity in honoring diversity by booking 50% female/minority artists. This initiative is currently unmatched in the music industry, and we hope to encourage this practice to become the standard.

-
Sustainability: We run our production off 100% solar-powered generators making our events uniquely sustainable. We understand the future requires each of us to be radically responsible for improving sustainability efforts and leaving mother Earth better than we found it.

-
Charity Efforts: We proudly support the local charity Corazon De Vida in their orphanages and youth uplifting efforts. Our community's future is bright, especially when we support our youth in growing into healthy fulfilling lives. All youth deserve equal treatment for a beautiful childhood. Help support by attending COM Impact events.

-
Local Humanitarianism: We are supporting immigration efforts of displaced refugees from the war in Ukraine. Our founder, Alina Gordon, leads efforts daily to find resources such as housing, legal counsel, work, and shelter. Many of our weekly services donate proceeds to this cause. Please see individual service flyers for more information.

Ethos
Please read, practice, and share our ethos when you join our tribe for a service or gathering to help us make the world a kinder place.

Inception

In the beginning, there was a virus. March of 2020 changed the lives of people across the planet. A viral pandemic locked down the world, separated families, friends, and people from those they love. As fear propagated through the media, we sat in forced isolation for the first time in our lives, unsure what the future would look like or when we could gather again.

On May 8, 2020, as people started to feel safe to come out of their houses and see their neighbors, San Diego entrepreneur and DJ Alina Gordon invited a couple of her friends to watch the sunset and listen to uplifting house music on the cliffs of the closed Torrey Pines Gliderport where paragliders would launch themselves over the ocean.

One by one, Alina's friends showed up as she sat on the grass with a speaker, battery, and small DJ equipment, playing the soundtrack for a reunion that would soon
ignite a movement. As the night progressed, people danced under the starlight, hugged each other and began a long process of healing the trauma of being locked up alone.

Next week her friends brought more friends and the number of people doubled in size. Within minutes of arriving, tears flowed, hugs were given and gratitude for being alive and with others was overflowing.

Since everything was closed and all other forms of entertainment were dead, people began texting their friends and calling them to gather together in the only place open, which happened to be a magical space that was growing, ironically, like a virus. As one virus spread destruction, the viral growth of this group spread restoration.

Today Church of Music is a mainstay outlet for unity and artistic expression. We know anything is possible when we grow together as a tribe. Check out the COM Crew below.
